Hilarious!
I have found that since I started reading IJ, I have unconsciously adopted an imitation of DFW's writing style, and as a result I have to be careful when I write e-mails; my sentences have been getting longer and more rambling and train-of-thought-ish than they ever used to be.

Re hamsters in an exercise ball
two nights ago my dog was going ape-shit half the night barking at the wall..
Come to find out..my daughter had forgotten she put little Ruby the albino hamster in her exercise ball and
she rolled herself into my room and got stuck in the wires behing my desk..
my kid had forgotten ruby 12 hours earlier...
Ruby seemed no worse for the enforced isolation... she lives with bernice formerly Bernard who is her mother..
The excitement never ends this summer!!
I once heard the most beautiful phrase in the English language is " summer aftenoon."
