Infinite Summer

I tried this.

Reading schedule: 200 pages a day. No excuses.

It wasn't the most satisfying reading!

I did it, not on purpose. I certainly missed a TON. But I get sucked into things with good plots, and read fiction at about a page a minute. I spend two hours a day on the subway, and don't mind staying up until 3 in the morning on a work night. I didn't bother to look up words I don't know, and I'm finding now that major subplots were completely lost on me. But I knew from the beginning that I'd be reading it again, almost immediately, which is what I'm doing now.

It just seems strange to me...like asking if you can have all your sex for the year in one week.

Side note: I read about 100 pages of Gravity's Rainbow before switching over to IJ. Seems to me they are barely comparable in terms of readability.

Jesus! Well, that settles it. I have given up the idea of ever attempting to read that book. How does Against the Day or one of his others compare to IJ? I've heard they're better than GR. He also has a new book coming out soon; I might try that one:

Better in terms of readability I mean. Against the Day also got really good reviews, though, with some people if I recall saying it was a better artistic acheivement while also being more readable.
