I am really hoping that a friend from work is going to follow along and be part of this group. I had two extra copies so I gave her one and maybe her boyfriend will read it as well. She is a big reader so I hope that just the challenge of reading a book that size will be enough to get her to do it. |

Unfortunately, I was not familiar with Wallace until the news of his death. Then the outpouring of commentary on his works and how good a book Infinite Jest was had me picking up a copy at a local used book store. After the first few pages it was not exactly pulling me in. Tennis? Prep school? meh. However, then I read, "Consider the Lobster." And a few stories from "Brief Conversations with Hideous Men." And "A Supposedly Fun Think I'll Never Do Again." They fell into my lap one after the other. I picked up IJ again. Then, on cue, I hear about Infinite Summer and hear I am. Er short answer, the Universe is making me do it. |
