How old are people in this group?

I am 24, but my birthday is in 1981. Figure that one out.

No really. I'm 28. I've just been "between" schools for a long time.

I started reading Infinite Jest, the most Infinite of all Jests, when I was...erm...well, I was an undergrad, but I was on the 5 1/2 year plan so it could have been anywhere between...hmm...forgive me, I went to college in Santa Cruz and sometimes the old brain fogs up. Just kidding. I didn't smoke the marijuana. Well, not much. We art majors went more for the liquor and coke. Okay. I was definitely 22.

55 - haven't been this engrossed in an author since reading Pynchon for first time in 1975.

Second time reading IJ - have read everything else I could find by DFW this year.

I love being 55; 36 seems really young to me.

16, just out of Sophomore year and on a re-read! Who can beat that? Hahaha...

Our ages cannot solidify the belief that we are fundamentally devoid of proper exposure and experience, or, specifically, experience enough to relate to IJ. Perceptions, lifestyles, and thoughts are unique to the person; while many can find certain aspects of the book that are "deeply connected" to their lives, I think that almost anyone can pull elements and themes from this text and find ways to relate. The fantastic thing about this novel is the way that it weaves throughout all walks of life and ways of viewing life. All ages will find something here.

All of this aside, I'd love to see what everyone my age thinks.

I'm 40 and this is my (third) reading (though my other two sputtered out halfway through or so) so actually it's my first. I bought IJ in paperback after reading "Consider the Lobster" in Gourmet magazine...5 years ago???

51. Have read most of DFW except IJ. Have started it a few times but now have a whole different attitude with this project.
