Started Elegant Complexity right after IJ, I just ordered a copy of De Lillo's Underworld, but when it arrived it looked kind of huge, so I think I'm gonna wait a while before I dive in.
Got a copy of Pynchon's new book, but I'm kind of saving that for a treat...
So Carpenter's Gothic, and then probably Dracula with IS

Um. I'm re-reading Infinite Jest. I started Brief Interviews With Hideous Men while traveling, to avoid having to carry IJ on a plane one more time, but I've jumped back in and I read BIWHM in the gaps.

It was clear in some of the DFW interviews that he intended for people to read at least the first chapter again, possibly the whole book. After rereading CH.1 and getting SO much more meaning out of the details than on the first pass, I kept going. The same has turned out to be true of the following chapters: many little things that seemed like throw-away details or dialog on the first pass are invested with new meaning when you know how the rest of the book unfolds.

I decided to stick with the 2nd read through now instead of waiting for later so that I will remember as much as possible from the 1st read-through as I pass through again.

It's painful seeing the rest of the InfSum participants move on to Dracula or other things; I have been hoping that enough crazy people would decide to do an immediate second lap that a new sub group would form on the InfSum site. Still hoping, but no energy to be an organizer.

I so agree that it is imperative to read IJ again, immediately. I am luxuriating in the novel this second time around, reading and re-reading various sections, savoring the language (dictionary near by), annotating like crazy. My first read felt like a 100-yard dash to find out what the hell happens next; the second feels like a stroll in a in a Seurat painting.

some light reading first.

HP Lovecraft tales... plan on re-reading Colour Out of Space, In the Mountains of Madness, Call of Cthulu and Shadows over Innsmouth.

Then finishing Netherland.

Then tackling the second book of Mishima's Sea of Fertility, Runaway Horses.
