Byzantine's a good one to mention. Used as an adjective it means intricately complex or devious and surreptitious, which describes the whole book pretty well.

How about words that seem to have new meanings in the IJ universe? I.e., demapped, promoted, interfacing, etc. Or words apparently invented by DFW, like my favorite, "kertwang."

someone already said it, but: post-prandial!

i get so tickled when i'm doing something after dinner and then can use the word post-prandial in relation to it. i just wish it sounded as good out loud as it does in my head.
