I'm interested to know if there is anyone else from the UK taking part. I've had the book for 10 years now and with the inspiration from this project I plan to actually read it. Considering I'm a Brit and have never lived in the US, although I have been to NYC twice, I was wondering if there were any aspects to the story that I might not 'get'. Anyone care to comment. |

Hi, yep, another reader from the UK here. I haven't noticed any American cultural references that would be too obscure for us Brits, yet. But it's an interesting point you raise; maybe they've just gone over my head; are there any reasons why a non-US reader could not fully immerse themselves in IJ? |

Yup, I'm from the UK too. Haven't been troubled by any particularly American elements that I know of. |

British-born, but living in Canada, so the Quebec separatism aspects have an extra piquancy for me. There may be a few small gags relating to American TV shows or products that skip past me, but I think they're entirely incidental. Peter |

Yes - London based reader here, reading it for the second time. Have I missed some US references? Probably (you'd don't know what you don't know) - but I think most readers of this tomb of a book are missing something, judging from the discussion forums. |
