I get random mail sometimes, mainly mail-order catalogs from places I've never heard of, and while flipping through one today, I found an add for the Jitterbug cell phone. It's a really simple phone with large buttons and no features beyond call waiting and voicemail. They describe it as "easy to use whether you are technophobic or just don't want to hassle with bells and whistles you'll never use." It just reminded me of the way Videophony started out as an improvement on technology, but then people reverted back to the initial simplicity of the phone to escape the overabundance of technology that hurt, rather than helped, the task at hand. |

That's perfect! My experience with this was when I went to get a new cell phone and the store assistants looked at me like I was a lunatic when I said I didn't really want a camera, or the web, or the kitchen sink in my cell phone! How could I possibly just want to use my phone to make and receive calls? |
