And in fact, Joelle thinks to herself early on (during the scene where she attempts suicide) that she was, in fact, unveiled during the film.
In the Brief-Interviews-esque scene where Joelle is describing The Entertainment, I can't remember if she explicitly states that she was or wasn't veiled, but she impresses the point that this is inconsequential because you most likely can't see her face anyway, given that JOI was using some strange snail-eyestalk of a camera* that was producing some weird optics. So what Molly says about her face being blocked out (or otherwise unseen) could be true.
* I'm not recalling every detail but I think this is what she was describing.
