haha! i love this! good catch. something about this book puts my memory centers into overdrive and i find myself flipping back 100 pages to corroborate minor details and coincidents that don't actually mean much and that i probably wouldn't catch in other books.

practical knowledge may be being pushed out of the way for all these details... i couldn't unlock my deadbolt yesterday.

levingard--that was AWESOME. what's so beautiful about it is the randomness of the catch. i don't feel pressure to catch all the intertextual references DFW makes--how could I?--but there's a flash of the uncanny when you recognize an echo from somewhere else. it's a reminder of something--of where this behemoth novel came from, just tiny little fragments, that become a microscopic, fleeting point of connection. love it.

wow. and really believable that Hal and Orin, with their weird relationship and tendency to ironically screw with each other verbally would knowingly speak in such quotes.

Greg Carlisle mentions this connection in elegant complexity.

Am I the only one who noticed this immediately upon reading it? surely other people here have heard Revolver...
