Levirate Marriage is referenced again on pg. 832 in that last longwordedverbaldiarrhea, and could be in reference to Hamlet too (Claudius and the Queen had this kind of marriage).
But the father marrying the veiled wife of his son? That would imply J.O.I. had relations with J.v.D., which we all are pretty sure never happened. So that seems like a thematic connection just kind of forced in there by Mr. Wallace.
