First Orin section

I know I'm coming to this discussion a little late, and I'm guessing this has probably already been brought up elsewhere, but I love that Orin is a punter, which means that his job is to salvage as much as possible from a losing situation.

The falling wren also seems to link back to Hamlet when Horatio is reminded of the "Special providence in the fall of a sparrow" V.ii.215-16.

I wanted to bring this up a while ago, but it was ahead of the spoiler line, and now we're way past it, but whatever!

The second Orin section (page 65-66) is all about how Orin must dress as a bird (a Cardinal) and drop down from the sky to the stadium floor below. And he HATES it. So was the bird falling from the sky a bad omen because he knew he would in a sense be falling from the sky soon (the first section is October, the second is November 1)?

"Why do we stand for this! I'm an athlete! I'm not a freak-show performer!"

Does he hate it so much because it highlights that in essence he is a performer?
