Pretty weak little tidbit here, I'll admit that right off the bat. But, I noticed that on pg 522 Tavis invites Tina Echt "to sit in my lap and let me make such soothing sounds as There There There." Then, on 541 Lenz discovers saying the word "'There' turned out to be crucial for the sense of brisance and closure and resulving issues of impotent rage and powerless fear that like accrue in Lenz all day being trapped in the northeastern portions of the squalid halfway house all day fearing for his life." |

hey, maybe not that weak--could it be the optic inverse of "here," as in "I am in here?" what's the difference between Hal's here and Lenz's there? or the overlap between them? |
