 Post subject: Strange character names

One of the things that drove me crazy on my first reading of Infinite Jest is Wallace's use of what seem to be reader-unfriendly character names, though now I see them as part of the fun of the book. I can't decide if they're intentionally strange and clunky to make them easier to remember, or which ones are supposed to be puns or obscure references. It's like your eye can't just drift over them; you get caught up in how to pronounce 'Troeltsch' or laughing at Kyle D. Coyle. One of the ones that gets me in the filmography is Judith Fukuoka-Hearn.

Ann Kittenplan is probably my favorite...
