The M.I.T. Language riots! I find that awesome to a degree that words cannot express. |

The MIT language riots is an intertextual reference. Here, DFW is referencing Ratner's Star, a book by DeLillo. D. DeLillo is one of DFW's big influences supposedly. Also, annular is a significant pick-up. Kudos to the people who noticed it. |

I like in the introduction to the filmography: '...certain of his high-conceptual projects' agendas required that they be titled and subjected to critique but never filmed, making their status as film subject to controversy." |

What's with all the details on the type of film, and whether it was released, etc? Is that all necessary? To me it seemed like it cluttered the text. |

Re-reading this last night (I'm woefully behind - glad for the long weekend), I noticed that the narrator for Annular Fusion Is Our Friend and Annular Amplified Light is "C.N. Reilly." I take this to mean Charles Nelson Reilly. Love it! |

I just finished the section on pgs. 686 – 689 where a “hopeless” Hal is lethargically sitting through a session of watching his Dad’s films. This afforded an opportunity to read in some detail great swaths of Footnote #24 again. One question, however, is a reference to a film entitled Union of Publicly Hidden in Lynn, which I don’t seem to be able to find in the filmography. Maybe I am just overlooking something? If not, is there something to the title of this undocumented film we should be paying attention to? |
